Starting with the arrival of the legendary Mr. Byte in early 1981 (and Chewy in 1982) Carol and I had bichons around the house for almost 18 years. Since Chewy left us in 1998, we've talked about getting another, and we're both surprised that it took this long. Still, on May 4, 2005, our Bichon Frise Adventure began anew, with the arrival of Deja Vu's Quantum Bit. Here's the story, in pictures.

We met in July 1969, at a church event in Chicago, when we were juniors in high school. This album tracks us down through the years since then. Many of our photos are in "sticky sheet" albums, and it isn't easy to remove them for scanning. There are some gaps, especially in the early 1990s. We'll keep trying, and eventually should have something from almost every year.

I've been a tinkerer since I was very young, and although the technologies have come and gone with the years, I've never gone long without one or two projects on the workbench. In this album I'll try to present a photo-history of my tinkerer's career, starting with the oldest things I have photos of, and moving forward through time.
